Self-confidence is a Sure key to success in a group discussion test. Self-confidence is another name of success, fulfilment, happiness and satisfaction. Trust in oneself is the hallmark of a successful leader. Nothing good, great, satisfying and lasting can be had without self-confidence. All great successful men and women and leaders have been abundantly self-confident. Their faith in themselves, their abilities and their Creator has always been firm like a rock. Such a faith and self-confidence can move mountains, carry conviction, acceptability and popularity. When you combine your deep knowledge, gift of the gab, charm of your personality and other merits with self-confidence, you become invincible, exceptionally remarkable and a chosen one. If you are really self-confident success is invariably yours in any group discussion or interview. The bright sunshine of self-confidence is mighty enough to melt away all snow of odds, resistances and oppositions. There is no better weapon or armour than self-confidence.
If you are self-confident but not arrogant and hostile, you can best sell your arguments, ideas, concepts, beliefs, faith and conviction. Success in a group discussion means success in conviction and salesmanship. Your self¬confidence would help you, as nothing else can do, to sell your wares of ideas, concepts and logic to the group before you and the Examiner in the background in a miraculous way. They will willingly accept your leadership and adopt your dreams and convictions. Success is very much assured when your speech and arguments are imbued with self-confidence, faith and conviction. Ideas, opinions, convictions etc. of a person imbued with self-confidence are neither half-baked, nor untruths, nor half truths. They create instant favourable impression leading to success and more success. Your firm faith in yourself would appeal to the emotions and buying instincts of the group you are addressing. A good speaker and a good salesman have self-confidence in common. They share the keen desire to compete and be successful come what may.
Self-confidence is the very foundation of success in any venture and more so in a group discussion. No one can sell or deliver the goods without it. Without self confidence, a person participating in a group discussion cannot but reap failure, frustration and hopelessness. He or she would be really a round peg in a square hole. The chances of success for such a candidate are really bleak. Want of self-confidence generates nervousness, confusion, imbalance, anxiety and fear. One may be a knowledgeable person but without self-confidence he would get bewildered, confused and in a fix while speaking in a group of equals. Only a self-confident participant in a group discussion can easily and successfully put forward his opinions, arguments and concepts. Only such a person can think coherently, logically, convincingly and persuasively.
To attain self-confidence work hard, wisely, sincerely, and assiduously. Read and study selectively. Improve your power of comprehension, retention and retrieval. Cultivate the skills of a good speaker, and attend purposeful and relevant talks, discussions, debates, etc. Observe well how famous speakers, speak, deliver things and manage the affairs. Let them be your role models and examples. Practice and rehearse discussions with the members of your family, close friends and others with whom you are intimate. Avail yourself of the opportunity that comes across you. You can also create opportunities instead of waiting for them. Never forget what the princess of poets and playwright Shakespeare has said in a clarion call-
There is tide in the affairs of man,
which taken at the flood, leads to fortune,
Omitted, all the voyage of their life
Is bound in shallows and miseries.
On such a full sea are we now afloat
and we must take the current when it serves or lose our ventures.
Be up, doing, struggling, watching, ever persuing,
Ever achieving imbued with self-confidence and faith.
